PDEA Seized P258M Worth of Illegal Drugs from a Chinese National in Manila

Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) seized P258 million worth of illegal drugs suspected as “shabu” from a Chinese national in Manila.

In a buy-bust operation in Malate, Manila, the PDEA seized P258 million worth of shabu. Zhizun Chen, 38, a casino financier who lives at 168 Tower 2 Soler Street in Binondo, Manila, was apprehended by the PDEA.

Chen had previously been arrested for possession of 15 kilos of shabu with a street value of P102 million, according to the PDEA. It was eventually revealed that the shabu weighed 38 kilograms and was valued at P258 million.

Meanwhile, in Trece Martires City, Cavite, the PDEA recently destroyed shabu worth P1.295 billion. At a temperature of 1,000 degrees Celsius, it is broken down through thermal decomposition or thermolysis.

According to the report, an estimated 912,685.73 grams of various illegal drug variants were burned at the Integrated Waste Management facility in Barangay Aguado, Trece Martires City.

The damaged drugs cost around P1,295,050,354, according to PDEA Director General Wilkins Villanueva. Key officials from the PDEA, local officials from Barangay Aguado in Trece Martires City, representatives from the PNP and other law enforcement agencies, the Departments of Justice and Interior and Local Government, non-government organizations, and the media were present.
