Over P1.2 Billion Worth of Suspected Illegal Drugs Destroyed by PDEA in Cavite

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) has destroyed different variants of illegal drugs worth P1.2 billion in Cavite.

In Trece Martires City, Cavite, the PDEA recently destroyed shabu worth P1.295 billion. At a temperature of 1,000 degrees Celsius, it is broken down through thermal decomposition or thermolysis.

According to the report, an estimated 912,685.73 grams of various illegal drug variants were burned at the Integrated Waste Management facility in Barangay Aguado, Trece Martires City.

Shabu (crystal meth), liquid shabu, toluene, marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy, pseudoephedrine, ephedrine, opium, diazepam, nitrazepam, alprazolam, methylephedrine, ketamine, methylphenidate, expired pharmaceuticals, and GBL were among the suspected illegal narcotics destroyed (Gamma-Butyrolactone).

The damaged medications cost around P1,295,050,354, according to PDEA Director General Wilkins Villanueva. Key officials from the PDEA, local officials from Barangay Aguado in Trece Martires City, representatives from the PNP and other law enforcement agencies, the Departments of Justice and Interior and Local Government, non-government organizations, and the media were present.

“We want to assure the public that all seized illegal drugs under the custody of PDEA will all be destroyed, thus allaying fears of recycling,” said PDEA director general Wilkins Villanueva.
