COVID-19 Positive Inmate Who Escaped from South Cotabato Isolation Facility Re-arrested by Authorities

KORONADAL CITY – The police authorities have re-arrested a COVID-19-positive inmate after escaping from the isolation facility.

In August 2019, the 29-year-old inmate identified as Reggie Grecia has been placed at the South Cotabato Rehabilitation and Detention Center over charges of illegal drug trafficking but suffered from tuberculosis.

Recently, the suspect has been brought to the South Cotabato provincial hospital for medical treatment. He tested positive for coronavirus disease and has been placed in an isolation facility.

COVID-19 Positive Inmate

Unfortunately, Grecia jumped from the third floor of the isolation facility last Monday (June 21) after learning that he tested positive for COVID-19. The province immediately launched a manhunt operation to arrest latter.

Barangay Zone 3, Koronadal City Councilor Allan Trespeces alerted the cops after seeing the fugitive at the bus terminal in Polomolok public market. The cops successfully re-arrested the escapee.

The inmate explained that he just wanted to see his mom General Santos City but he was told to get out of Mindanao Star bus for having no money.

COVID-19 Positive Inmate

The province’s health authorities conduct contact tracing to track individuals who have a close contact with the inmate including Mindanao Star bus’ driver, conductor and passengers.
