39 Individuals Arrested Over Phishing Scam Operation in Quezon City

Police authorities arrested 39 individuals including a minor who were allegedly involved in a phishing scam operating in Quezon City.

In Quezon City, police detained 39 people and rescued one youngster who were reportedly involved in a phishing scheme. The accused were apprehended by members of the Quezon City Police District, including the alleged firm manager Rose Castolo, Jesto Aludino, and Mitch John Esteban.

Phishing Scam in Quezon City

The police operation began after a concerned citizen told them of their alleged phishing scam scheme, according to the report. According to the concerned citizen, their primary targets are foreign nationals.

Physical separation rules, as well as the use of face masks and face shields, were not observed inside the workplace, according to the concerned individual. Perse Intelect Marketing Campaign Service, located along Regalado Highway in Barangay Greater Lagro, was identified by the police.

According to police, the suspects failed to submit any relevant documentation related to their activity, resulting in the confiscation of their laptops. During the operation, a 17-year-old female was also rescued.

Police did not disclose any other information about the suspects’ activities, but said they will face accusations of trafficking in persons, particularly women and children, cybercrime, and Special Protection Against Child Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination.

Suspects will also be charged with breaking the Law on Reporting of Communicable Diseases. The defendants will also face an ordinance for operating without permits, according to police.
