Duterte Orders Arrest Against Travelers with Fake COVID-19 Test Results

President Duterte Wants Arrest for Travelers with Fake COVID-19 Test Results

President Rodrigo Duterte ordered authorities to arrest travelers who will present fake COVID-19 test results to travel other province.

Individuals who produce phony coronavirus test results, especially in tourist areas, face imprisonment time, according to Duterte. In his State of the Union speech, President Obama urged domestic travelers to double-check the accuracy of their passports to avoid jeopardizing their holiday.

“Don’t do that. You will only be compromised, as well as your expenses. Kindly check twice over whether or not you have the genuine certificates,” Duterte said.

He also reminded the Philippine National Police, the Department of Tourism, and local government units to strictly enforce coronavirus prevention practices among travelers. Duterte claimed he had received allegations that some travelers were falsifying test results in order to get around travel restrictions.

Four passengers were arrested in Boracay this week for falsifying coronavirus tests and QR codes at the Tabon Port in Caticlan, following the arrests of seven others the week before. In an effort to increase domestic tourism, the pandemic task force has permitted Filipinos living in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, and Rizal to travel for leisure to places under modified general community quarantine.

Only food and personal needs were permitted during pit stops or stopovers. According to the task group, travelers aged 18 and under, as well as those over 65, should get coronavirus swab testing before traveling. The swab test requirement for visitors aged 18 to 65 would be determined by the destination’s municipal government.
