Plantitos, Plantitas Community Pantry in QC Offers Free Plants, Seeds

Community pantry set up by plantitos and plantitas in Quezon City offers free plants and seeds to their fellow plant lover individuals.

The communal pantry in Kamuning, Quezon City, created by market sellers and seamstresses, appears to be a haven for plantitos and plantitas. Instead of free meals, their pantry had over 100 items of plants and seeds that were distributed to those in line for free.

Interested plantitos and plantitas can get Ornamental plants such as eternally wealthy, mayana; Herbal plants such as insulin, oregano; Vegetables such as okra and eggplant; and Flowers such as Vietnam rose, fortulaca, according to Ola Torres, who sells pork at the Kamuning market and was one of the pantry’s organizers.

Turtle vine, as well as sygonium, calateya, San Francisco, five fingers, and snake plant, are succulents. They also provided parsley seeds, basil, chile, bell pepper, lettuce, bokchoy, and other vegetables in addition to the plants.

Bonus pots, foam soil, and fertilizer are included. The event lasted four hours, and guards were stationed throughout the area to ensure that safety rules were followed.

Even if their market sales diminish, according to co-organizer Herbert Fabrigas, it is not an impediment to helping others. They considered putting together a community pantry to encourage our compatriots to engage in urban gardening.
