Pinay OFW in Saudi Arabia To File Case Against Her Foreign Employers Over Alleged Physical Abuse
SAUDI ARABIA – A Pinay OFW in Saudi Arabia accused her foreign employers for abusing her physically and maliciously.
The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) director Connie Marquez reported that the Pinay migrant worker Norevie Ugalingan from her employer’s residence due to alleged abuse.
Norevie Ugalingan has been rescued a few hours after Philippine Embassy office in Al Khobar received tips about her situation. She has been placed in Bahay Kalinga for distressed OFW with the help of her recruitment agency in Saudi Arabia.
“Kagabi pinull-out siya ng Saudi recruitment agency at nagkaroon ng meeting with our welfare officer sa Al Khobar, at doon may agreement na hindi na pauwiin si Ma’m Norevie dun sa bahay ng kaniyang employer at dun na siya magsi-seek ng refuge sa ating Bahay Kalinga,” Marquez said.
The abused OFW would remain at the shelter until her scheduled repatriation on June 24. Norevie is among the passengers of the chartered flight prepared by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Philippine Embassy in Riyadh.
Ugalingan has been reportedly abused by her employer after Ramadan and her mobile phone has been also confiscated after posting the video on social media, according to OFW Ernalyn Hadap.

Hadap is one of the people who helped Norevie. She also revealed Norevie’s employer wants to take advantage of the OFW. The embassy is also willing to help the Pinay worker to file a case against her abusive employer.
