Young Lad Arrested Yields P1.5M Illegal Plant Bricks in Mt. Province

Police authorities arrested a young lad after caught with illegal drug plant called “maryjane” bricks worth P1.5 million in Mountain Province.

In Mountain Province, anti-narcotics agents and police recovered P1.5 million worth of dried maryjane leaves from a male suspect. Rodeo Cacapit, 21, was detained in Sitio Ampawan, Barangay Poblacion in Sadanga town, according to Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar.

The Sadanga Municipal Police Station and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Mountain Province put up a roadblock against the suspect based on the intelligence information. Two bags containing 15 dried marijuana bricks totalling 12.8 kilos, a cellphone, and his driver’s license were discovered in the suspect’s possession.

Previously, the Philippine National Police (PNP) of Kalinga used drones to scan the province for illegal drug plants. Kalinga police are now using drones to track down “Maryjane” or marijuana farms all throughout the region.

Drones are already being used to photograph and record illegal planting areas. In January 2021, 18 plantations in the province were destroyed, the largest of which was believed to be worth P50 million in fully mature maryjane plants and seedlings.
