Here’s what John Lloyd Cruz said about fatherhood
Elias is Lloydie’s son with his former partner Ellen Adarna. The former couple worked together in the defunct sitcom Home Sweetie Home and apparently that was the time when they got closer to each other.
In a recent interview, the A-list actor revealed to Mega Entertainment’s G3 San Diego that being a father was not that easy as what many perceived to be like in the movies that a man would exclaimed in surprise and excitement the words “Magiging tatay na ako!”
“Para sa akin hindi. I mean, kung ano yung nangyari sa akin, hindi. To each its own. Baka naman sa iba, totoo ‘yun and you can never tell kung ‘yun ay totoo o hindi. Okay yan, ‘yung nangyari sayo. Pero para sa akin… We wanted it eh. Alam naman na namin na it was going to happen,” John Lloyd Cruz shared.
He added that it was like a mixture of emotions and he had no opportunity at that time to ponder on things that were happening. Lloydie explained that during the time before Elias was born, there was a lot of things happening around them.
“Like yung father ni Ellen (Adarna) passed away two weeks before pinanganak si Elias and she was going through motherhood, becoming a mother and our own personal issues. ‘Diba parang lahat ang dami nangyari,” he said.
With that, he had no time to reflect as he was also going through something on his own. The actor said that it is just now, when time has become longer, he was able to see things clearly as a father.
“Totoong responsibility na. Oo, pupunta kayo ng doctor… So, siguro sa akin lang, it’s a process na—kapag kasi masyado ka na nag re-reflect about the process, para siyang ‘life happens when you’re so busy planning.’ Para siyang ganun,” Lloydie shared.
The A-list actor added that during random conversations and he would be asked about fatherhood, that’s the time that he can ponder.
“‘Oo nga noh?’ Kasi napaka-ano niya eh, matrabaho siya so—parang practical siya. It’s very physical as well, so nandun ka sa physicality of being a father, parang minsan lang naman yung mapapaisip ka and mapapa-reflect ka na, it feels nice ah,” John Lloyd Cruz said about being a father now.
