Miss Philippines Earth: 2 Girls Disagree Trans To Join Pageants For Women

Two of the official candidates in the Miss Philippines Earth 2021 express disagreement on trans women joining pageants for women.

MISS PHILIPPINES EARTH 2021 – Trans beauty queen Kevin Balot reacts when two of the candidates of Miss Philippines Earth 2021 were not in favor of trans joining the pageants for women.

Baguio City’s Miss Philippines Earth 2020 Roxanne Allison Baeyens is set to crown her successor as the new set of aspiring beauty queens were finally named. The event will happen on July 25, 2021, and this is the 21st edition of the beauty pageant to select the next beauty to represent the country on the international stage.

And as we celebrate Pride Month, Miss Philippines Earth 2020 candidates such as Daena Yapparcon (Miss El Nido, Palawan) and Jerimi Nuqui (Miss Caloocan) expressed objects about trans women joining the beauty pageants of natural-born women. The two candidates are among the first batch of ladies introduced to the press last June 1.

Miss El Nido believes that they must have their own pageant to celebrate their own beauty and get the respect that they want. She believes that beauty pageant for women are for the natural-born women alone to celebrate femininity.

Meanwhile, the aspiring beauty queen from Caloocan sees the same outlook about this. She respects the community but stressed inclusivity on matters like this. She added, “And I believe too that this transgender, they have their own pageants where they can showcase their skills, their talents, their beauty.”

Kevin Balot, crowned Miss International Queen 2012, shares the same view as them. She reposted a post from someone online who said that a “better definition of inclusivity and equality” was when the country celebrated the triumph of Balot and Trixie Maristela as Miss International Queen in years 2012 and 2015, respectively, with the same intensity when Miss Universe queen Pia Wurtzbach and Catriona Gray won.
