PSHS GRAD – Philippine Science High School (PSHS) graduate with admissions from three universities abroad misses the opportunity due to this.

Circulating online and collecting admiration from a lot of people are some of the graduates from Philippine Science High School. Some of their fresh graduates have received multiple admissions from various prestigious universities abroad to which some came along with full scholarships.

But one of them namely Dominic “Mico” R. Navarro who is among the Batch 2021 graduates of the PSHS Ilocos Region Campus failed to grab a chance due to lack of funds. Mico received admissions from Jacobs University (Germany) with a Scholarship Grant for BS Mathematics, Bentley University with provost scholarship for BS Actuarial Science, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison with direct admission to Wisconsin School of Business for BBA Actuarial Science.

He considered the one from Wisconsin but failed to secure a slot because of financial matters. He accordingly failed to deposit an amount of $55,000 as “cost of attendance” which is approximately Php 2.6 million by May 1. As per Inquirer, Mico said, “We tried to reach out to some government officials and agencies for scholarship grants, as well as with private companies [for tie-ups] but I was turned down.”

Although he has missed the chance, he is still not giving up yet to study abroad and he actually plans to take up a mathematic or actuarial science degree in the country. Mico is from a middle-income family in San Ildefonso town in Ilocos Sur. He is among the many bright students who lost the opportunity due to financial constraints.

PSHS or also called Pisay has 16 regional campuses across the country and this is where students with great minds and have huge potential are being honed and nurtured.
