PSA Reminded Public Against the Fake National ID Registration Sites

PSA Warns Public Against Alleged Fake Registration Sites of National ID

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has warned the public against the fake registration sites of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) for national ID.

Because certain bogus sites and Facebook pages purportedly appear to be representatives of PhilSys, the PSA has issued a public service announcement warning the public about the growth of bogus PhilSys registration sites. The names of the phony accounts were revealed by the agency.

Due to fraudulent sign-up practices and misconceptions about PhilSys registration, the following are now being investigated. Only authorities from the PhilSys website, philsys.gov.ph, and the Facebook page PSAPhilSysOfficial provide accurate information for the PhilSys registration procedure and ID issuance, according to PSA.

“Fake sites and third-party providers, such as Buy and Sell pages, do not operate with this security. Thus, these are prone to data leaks and misuse,” explained the PSA.

“Registration to PhilSys is free of charge. Therefore, registrants must not spare any expense under any circumstances during the duration of the three-step registration process,” the agency added.

It further stated that charging registrants fees is against Republic Act 11055, popularly known as the PhilSys Act. The Data Privacy Act of 2021 protects all information acquired through the official PhilSys website, according to the PSA.
