The PNP leadership also agreed to work with the National Bureau of Probe (NBI) on Arnigo’s death investigation. The PNP stated that it will respect the NBI’s decision.

“We respect their choice of a National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) probe and we want to assure our full cooperation with the investigation,” said PNP chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar in a statement.

Mayor Gatchalian previously stated that the National Bureau of Inquiry (NBI) will meet with the victim’s relatives to discuss a separate investigation into the incident. Eleazar sent his sympathies to Arnigo’s family as well.

The PNP chief further stated that the probe will be continued by the PNP Internal Affairs Service (IAS). He ordered the IAS to undertake a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident to see if there were any operational breaches on the side of the Valenzuela City police.

According to a prior police report, Arnigo allegedly seized the gun of one of the officers involved in the raid, causing a skirmish that ended with the victim being shot and killed by a gunshot. Arnigo’s mother, on the other hand, believes that her son’s body is too small to fight and grab a gun with the big cop.

Many people in the neighborhood claim to have witnessed Arnigo being shot in the side by police as they approached. Arnigo was allegedly pulled by the cops and taken to the tupada’s location.
