People Behind Sale of COVID-19 Vaccination Slots in Metro Manila

PNP Identified People Behind the COVID-19 Vaccination Slots for Sale

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has identified the individuals behind the alleged sale of COVID-19 vaccination slots in some places in Metro Manila.

Police Brigadier General Ronaldo Olay, spokesman for the Philippine National Police (PNP), said on Monday that they have already named some of the people involved in the suspected selling of COVID-19 vaccination slots. The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, he said, is conducting the investigation (CIDG).

“May mga impormasyon na tayo at may mga tao na o personalities na na-identify through sa ating backtracking sa mga bagay na ‘yan,” he said.

Olay declined to provide any further information about the investigation, claiming that it might jeopardize their plans. After screenshots of the suspected “under the table” trade went viral on social media last week, PNP Chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar tasked the CIDG to lead the investigation into the alleged illegal selling of vaccines.

Some people said they could get vaccination slots in some LGUs for P8,000 to P12,000, according to the messages. The messages listed Mandaluyong and San Juan.

The mayors of both cities called it a ruse, pointing out that COVID-19 vaccines are available for free. Olay urged the public not to fall for such a con.

“Huwag tayo magpaloko dahil may mga nananamantla at gustong pagkaperahan itong pandemyang it,” he said.
