Man Suffers Wound After Being Shot by Police Due to Misunderstanding

A simple misunderstanding was resulted to physical fight and later went to shooting after a police shot a man who runs amok.

A man was injured after he was allegedly shot by a policeman in Brgy. Mambog, in Banga town, Aklan, Friday morning. During the Banga PNP investigation, the police repaired the victim’s tricycle after its tire was flattened.

The police and the victim allegedly had a misunderstanding when the suspect asked how the tricycle he was repairing was doing. Later their simple misundertstaning ended up in a heated argument.

While the police were calming the victim, he became even more angry so he took a bamboo to slap the police. When the police avoided him, the victim took another steel pipe and allegedly tried to strike the police.

After evanding the attempted strike, the policeman pulled out a gun and fired at the victim. The victim was immediately taken to the hospital and continues to be treated.

The policeman surrendered to the responding authorities and also surrendered his PNP-issued firearm that he used in the shooting. The suspect is already in the custody of the Banga PNP and is awaiting the decision of the victim’s family if they will file a case against the police.
