DILG Condemns COVID-19 Vaccination Slots Allegedly for Sale in Mandaluyong

The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) condemned the alleged COVID-19 vaccination slots for sale in Mandaluyong.

A news recently circulated on social media claiming that Mandaluyong’s local government unit (LGU) is selling vaccination slots. Those who pay for the supposed slot would be injected with the vaccine of their choice.

According to the study, the Pfizer vaccine costs P15,000, while a friend’s price is P12,000, according to the report. The AstraZeneca vaccine slot, on the other hand, costs P10,000.

As a result, Mayor Menchie Abalos of Mandaluyong City is looking into such illegal activities. He also told the city police chief that the cybercrime division of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) could work with him.

If it is established that a legitimate account was used in the selling of COVID-19 vaccines, the Mayor promised that someone would be held accountable and that a lawsuit would be brought. The Mandaluyong local government, according to Abalos, does not sell the COVID-19 vaccine or even the vaccination slots to anyone.

Abalos also urged the public not to patronize illicit vaccine sales and to report them to the Mayor’s office at 8534-1662. Residents and city staff in Abalos were also encouraged to register for vaccinations on the Mandavax website.

On Saturday, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) vowed to use the full force of the law against anyone found to be involved in the alleged selling of COVID-19 vaccination slots in Mandaluyong and San Juan.

According to DILG Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya, there are many cases pending against the perpetrators. If these methods are shown to be accurate and not only a ruse, this is unquestionably a case of government vaccine fraud.

The authorities may also file a variety of fraud charges. The PNP is currently studying and investigating these, and we will file relevant charges based on the findings, Malaya added.
