COVID-19 Vaccination In Thailand Gives Chance To Win Cow

COVID-19 VACCINATION – If you’re vaccinated against COVID-19 in Thailand, then you have a chance to win a cow.

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, countries ramp up their vaccination drives and campaigns. However, some countries do their campaigns differently done others. In most cases, government officials themselves do infographics and commercials about vaccination.

But, in the Mae Chaem district of Northern Thailand, vaccinated residents can win a cow. This prized animal is worth around 10,000 baht or $318.78. Much like a raffle draw, getting vaccinated gets you a chance to be randomly chosen to win one cow.

Surprisingly, the promo worked. After announcement, thousands of residents expressed interest in vaccination. According to district chief Boonlue Thamtharanurak:

Our vaccine registration numbers have gone from hundreds to thousands in a couple of days… The villagers love cows. Cows can be sold for cash

Based on an article from Inquirer, the village plans to begin vaccinations on June 7, in line with Thailand’s national vaccine rollout. Furthermore, at least 1.64 million of Thailand’s 66 million population already received their first doses.

Moreover, over 7 million have registered for inoculation. Currently, Thailand has had a surge of COVID-19 cases with the majority of its 119,585 cases and 703 deaths recorded within the past two months.
