Risa Hontiveros Opposes Requiring 4Ps Recipients Vaccine First Before Claiming Aid
Senator Risa Hontiveros opposes the Presidential Spokesperson idea requiring Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) recipients to get the vaccine first before claiming cash aid.
People should be threatened with their financial assistance, according to the senator, and vaccinations that should be free and readily available should be used as bribes. She went on to say that threatening people is not a choice for getting them to get vaccinated.
“Hindi dapat binubully ang publiko para magpabakuna. Kaunting galang at respeto naman sa mga mahihirap. Walang kundisyon sa 4Ps law na kailangan vaccinated ang recipients,” Hontiveros said in a statement Wednesday.
“Hindi dapat ginagawang suhol ang mga bakunang dapat naman talaga ay libre at pangmalawakan. Hindi dapat pinagbabantaan ang madla,” she added.
Since a large portion of the country’s population refuses to be vaccinated, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque suggested that 4Ps beneficiaries be vaccinated against COVID-19 before receiving government cash assistance.
Roque argues that seeking help from the government’s human development initiative should be contingent on vaccination. After vaccine czar Carlito Galvez, Jr. announced that vaccinations will begin in the current month’s last week, Roque made the suggestion.
