BUILDING SHAKES & TILTS – People in China run for their lives as a building shakes and tilts out of nowhere.
China has been known to develop buildings in as fast as a week. Sometimes, China had built infrastructures in 3 days. However, this leads to some questions, especially when it comes to safety.
Recently, a viral video was uploaded showing people running for their lives. Screams and panic fill the air as hundreds of residents flee from a building that could be seen swaying as it tilts.
Here is the viral video uploaded on Reddit:
According to netizens, this may be due to “tuned mass damper”. This supports the building’s foundation. However, this could cause tall building to swing when hit with high winds. But, in the video, the netizens said that the building was “swinging too much”.
Meanwhile, others suggested that there was no visible effect found yet to determine the cause of the swing. As such, he believed that the swaying was due to “mechanical resonance”.
He explained:
For instance “In 2011, a skyscraper in South Korea started to rock, and a later study by professors and building engineers found that a Tae-Bo exercise class on one floor with 17 people caused the motion. Their synchronized movements matched the building’s natural frequency, causing it to shake for 10 minutes before it settled.”
