Pia Wurtzbach explains tweet about Vietnam during Miss Universe pageant

Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach tweeted about Vietnam during the recently-concluded 69^th edition of Miss Universe.

Pia has been very supportive of Rabiya Mateo, the delegate of the Philippines for this edition of the most prestigious pageant in the world.

During the coronation night (May 17, Philippine time), Pia, along with other Pinay beauty queens like Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray cheered for the Ilongga beauty queen.

They used their social media platforms, just like many pageant fans to show support for Rabiya in her Miss Universe journey. However, one of the tweets of Pia Wurtzbach received negative reactions from the pageants fans in Vietnam.

“Mas maraming pageant fans sa Vietnam kesa sa Pilipinas?” the third Pinay Miss Universe tweeted. Apparently, she posted this during the Top 21 announcement. Pageant fans voted for their favorite to be included in the Top 21.

Some netizens who commented on that tweet of Pia expressed that they also have the same thought while there were those who said that even those who are not pageant fans in Vietnam voted for Miss Vietnam.

On May 18, Pia shared on her Twitter post that many fans from Vietnam got angry. “Woah! Woke up to so many angry fans from Vietnam! I think some of you misunderstood my tweet last night! I didn’t mean any harm by it at all!” she said.

In her following tweet, she explained that she has been believing the concept that the Philippines has the most pageant fans in the world that is why she was just surprised that Vietnam got the highest votes in history.

For the beauty queen, this disproved her idea that Philippines has the largest fan base when it comes to pageant. “I wasn’t being sarcastic or questioning your win at all! Hope this clears it up. Congratulations Vietnam for the highest votes in Miss Universe history!” Pia Wurtzbach added.
