What will happen to the Darna project of Jane de Leon?
Netizens said that the Darna project of Kapamilya actress Jane de Leon seemed to have a “sumpa” because of what it went through and has not been finished.
The said project was initially intended to be a movie and the first chosen lead actress was Angel Locsin. However, due to her spine injury, she had to give up the role.
Then, the iconic role of Pinay superhero was given to Liza Soberano. The shooting reported has already started. However, Liza got her finger injured due to an intense scene in her series Bagani with her reel and real-life partner Enrique Gil.
Because of that, ABS-CBN and Star Cinema conducted another audition for Darna. Jane de Leon was fortunate enough to be chosen to play the iconic role. After this, anticipation arose that the movie will now push through.
However, another problem surfaced – the pandemic. Due to the health crisis, the shooting was postponed until it was reported that Darna will not be a movie anymore but a teleserye.
The lead star for this project is not the only vital person that has kept on changing. Initially, Direk Erik Matti was supposed to be the director. However, he resigned, and then Direk Jerrold Tarog was commissioned to do the job but he eventually resigned also.
Based on the article in Pang-Masa, Jane de Leon admitted that she cried when Direk Jerrold decided to leave the project. The actress became part of Ang Probinsyano early this year but reports surfaced that Coco Martin‘s series is et to end this year. There are speculations that he is planning to run in the 2022 elections.
Due to the hiccups that the Darna project has encountered, entertainment columnist Salve Asis said that many netizens thought that it has a “sumpa” or curse.
