Korina Sanchez pays tribute to Ricky Lo
TV host Korina Sanchez shared the fondest memories she had with veteran entertainment columnist Ricky Lo who passed away at the age of 75 on May 4.
The Philippine entertainment industry is mourning the death of the showbiz columnist/host. With his 50 years in the industry, he has established a name that was respected in by many. Throughout that period of time, he has shared valuable lesson in his field of expertise.
One of the popular personalities now who has learned a lot from him was Korina. In the recent Instagram post of the Rated Korina host, she shared how Ricky became part of her career.
“He began as my tormentor. Ricky Lo was Ricky Lo. In the 80’s and 90’s everyone in the industry revered and feared him,” the former news anchor shared.
She also said that everyone was aiming to be in Ricky’s column in The Philippine Star because this would mirror the status of someone in the industry.
“He makes or breaks you. Through years of talking he became a friend and supporter of this struggling, determined TV reporter and host,” Korina Sanchez said. Eventually, she said that Ricky Lo became her ally.
In the later years, Korina said that Ricky is still Ricky and she will never forget the tribute he did for her when she celebrated her 50th birthday. It was a three-page testimonials about her and her career.
“I loved my friend Ricky. Till the day he had finally gone, no press conference was truly legit without his presence,” she expressed. Korina Sanchez also recalled when Ricky Lo celebrated his 75th birthday last April 21. She shared that he sent him his favorite but she wondered why he was slow to respond.
“I marveled at how good he still looked. Am shocked. Am saddened. What a loss to all. End of an era. Never to be forgotten. To be so, so missed. I love you and will see you again one day my friend. Godspeed,” she said to her friend.
