Mandaluyong Residents Collects Trash in Exchange of Goods at Community Pantry

Mandaluyong City residents are encouraged collects plastic trash to be exchanged for goods offered at the community pantry.

Residents of Barangay Addition Hills gathered recyclable garbage to replace food provided by Mandaluyong City’s local government. People flocked to the Andres Bonifacio Integrated School (ABIS) gym’s group pantry.

The residents were carrying plastic sachet cutouts in their sacks. The barangay allows a minimum of five kilos of garbage and a maximum of ten kilos.

Residents would weigh their garbage before receiving food and then be given a stub for rice, vegetables, and noodles. On Tuesday, half of Martinez and Fabella Road will be closed, while the other half of Martinez, Nueve de Febrero, and Correctional Road will be closed on Wednesday.

The waste that has been recovered will be recycled and converted into eco-bricks. The people of Mandaluyong, according to the paper, have been doing this for a long time to clear the garbage that clogs their canal and prevent flooding.

Meanwhile, supporters of Inday Sara Duterte are being chastised on the internet for creating their own “Community Pantry.” Muntinlupa’s “Inday Sara For President Movement” set up a community pantry stocked with tarpaulins and merchandise supporting their presidential campaign.
