Meet the daughter of Joey Benin of Side A who is musically-inclined just like him.
JOEY BENIN – Clara Benin, the singer-songwriter daughter of Side A’s Joey Benin who grew up to love music just like him.
The one who wrote the famous love song “Forevermore” is Joey Benin of Side A band. He is the bass guitarist and their band’s recording career has started when they released the song “Eva Marie”. When he left the band, he was replaced by Ned Esguerra, a former member of the band Freeverse. The song “Eva Marie” was written for his wife whose name is Eva Marie “Bing” Ledesma-Benin and they were blessed to have four children – Boey, Jaco, Clara (of the song “Clara’s Eyes”), and Sarah.
He is the Side A’s bassist for 21 years and some of his hit songs are “Forevermore,” “I Believe in Dreams” and “Eva Marie” which became his legacy passed on to generations to generations. And now, 13 years after leaving the band, he shared that he is now a proud grandfather of four grandchildren. He alsox devoted most of his time in church ministry at Victory Christian Fellowship in Silay City, Negros Occidental where he settled a life with his family.
And her daughter Clara was the one who followed is footsteps in music who he described as a better songwriter than him. She embarked a professional singing career and her songs are really good. According to ABS-CBN, she debuted an album called “Human Eyes”. She claimed that it was definitely her dad who influenced him to pursue a career in music and also inspired her to write songs just like him.
Singers that she looked up to and also she regarded as her influences are John Mayer, Joni Mitchell, Brooke Fraser, and John Foreman. She wrote songs titled “Closure”, “Araw’t Gabi”, and the other tracks from her first album are “Easy,” “Find Me,” “Be My Thrill,” “Dust,” “Blameless,” “Cigarettes and Lighters,” “Naked” and “Kingdom Come.” Also, she is the voice behind the commercial jingle, “Hooray for Today,” used for McDonald’s breakfast.
