Doctor’s Check Determines Sen. Leila de Lima May Have Suffered Stroke

LEILA DE LIME – The doctor’s check showed that the detained lady Senator may have suffered from mild stroke thus courts granted her medical furlough.

One of the intriguing issues in the political arena that sparked a lot of reports then was the issue involving Senator Leila de Lima and President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. It is no secret to the public that the former is one of the latter’s staunch critics over his leadership.

There were several times in the past when the two (2) politicians exchanged strong messages against each other. It was amid the lady Senator facing drug allegations. There are accusations that she’s involved in the drug trade when she was the secretary of the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Sen. De Lima was arrested. Since 2017, she was detained at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center. Meanwhile, she has remained active in giving her side over the issues concerning the government.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, two (2) Courts in Muntinlupa have granted the request of Sen. Leila de Lima for a medical furlough or a temporary release from the detention for the purpose of medical examination. The doctor’s check determined that she may have suffered from mild stroke.

According to Judge Leizel Aquiatan of Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 205, there is a need for the lady Senator for an immediate Brain Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) with contrast. Based on the report, she’s granted three (3) days for a check-up.

Sen. Leila de Lima complained of headache and “persistent generalized weakness”. The doctor prescribed her to undergo an MRI but it is not available at the PNP-General Hospital thus the tests will be at the Manila Doctors Hospital.
