The incident is said to have terrified the Captain’s family. When asked if the dispute over the controversial “lugaw is not essential” issue had anything to do with the incident, captain Mar Gatchalian said he didn’t think so.

“Wala po siguro ‘yan. Maliit na isyu lang naman ‘yun, eh. Iyon naman eh sa mga kina-curfew lang natin, eh. Nag-viral lang talaga dahil siyempre medyo nagkamali ‘yung tao ko sa pagsasalita. Palagay ko po walang kinalaman ‘yun dito,” he said.

The Captain suspects that the motive for the incident was political, which was rooted in the division of their barangay and the construction of a public cemetery in their area.

The Sangguniang Bayan is said to have refused to split the barangay. He said they wer furious with him, so the barangay’s proposal to establish a public cemetery was put on hold.

Meanwhile, the suspects’ names have remained unknown. For fear of a repeat of the incident, the said restaurant will also be closed.
