ECQ And Surgical Lockdown In Boracay To Be Lifted On April 14

Mayor Says Boracay ECQ, Surgical Lockdown To Be Lifted On April 14 If Conditions Met

ECQ AND SURGICAL LOCKDOWN IN BORACAY – Enhanced community quarantine and surgical lockdown are set to end in select areas on Boracay Island in Malay town in Aklan on Wednesday.

However, Malay Mayor Frolibar Bautista said the change in the lockdown status would still depend on the number of new active cases. According to an article from ABS-CBN, Bautista stated:

“Tingnan natin kung hanggang bukas, kung meron pa bang positibo. Kung wala na, baka ma lift na natin lockdown sa ating barangay”

Currently, Barangay Balabag remains under ECQ. Meanwhile, Barangay Manocmanoc is still under a “surgical lockdown”. Furthermore, the mayor said that as of yesterday, merely 14 in Barangay Balabag and 27 in another barangay had cases of COVID-19. With this, only 50 cases of the virus remained active as of today.

Meanwhile, local authorities emphasized strict enforcement of health protocols for against using fake RT-PCR results. Additionally, they also require a quarantine pass for residents and tourists.

Very strict, meron tayong validating team. Meron tayong QR code, malalaman yan ng validating team tapos iche-check yan sa clinic kung ano bang laboratory kayo nagpakuha ng test saka bine-verify yan kung totoo o hindi“, the Mayor added.

As such, due to the low number of cases, Mayor Bautista noted that tourist are still safe to enter. He also noted that residents can’t go out easily as only one member per household is given a quarantine pass.
