Priest Uses TikTok To Evangelize Amid ECQ

PRIEST USES TIKTOK – Amid the lockdowns in the Philippines, the Catholic Church decided to enter the world of digital media.

Argentinian Fr. Luciano Felloni utilizes one of the biggest video sharing platforms, TikTok, to evangelize as the country faces the coronavirus pandemic. Because of the lockdowns, the education system, and other important bodies shifted online.

Following suit, Felloni went along with the trend and started the TikTok Channel, “Almusalista” during the first enhanced community quarantine in 2020. During an interview with ABS-CBN, he said:

Nagsimula nung ECQ, na-lockdown din ako and I live alone in one apartment. Magisa po ako, nai-struggle din ako during the ECQ and so I decided to put one-minute positive suggestions to have a better day

But, Felloni isn’t the only priest that getting into the hype. Likewise, Fr. Fiel Pareja, the parochial vicar of the Immaculate Concepcion Parish in Angeles City, Pampanga, also grew followers for sharing inspiring words on TikTok.

As such, locals dubbed him “Father Tiktoker” of Pampanga. Also, he has over 700,000 followers on his account. “Kasi nainip no, lockdown, pandemic, wala ring mga misa with congregation,’yun nasa loob ka lang ng simbahan, nasa kumbento, and then sabi ko, why not give it a try?” he said.

As per the report, he Pareja says that many of his followers request if he could give prayers in this times of crisis. With this, the priest now have a platform to safely connect with devotees and spread the word of God.
