Here’s a message from Miss Grand International 2020 Abena Appiah to her Pinay coach and Pinoy camp.
MISS GRAND INTERNATIONAL 2020 – Miss Grand USA Abena Appiah was crowned as Miss Grand International 2020 trained by a Pinay and a Pinoy camp behind her.
Miss Grand USA Evelyn Abena Akuaba Appiah was crowned as this year’s Miss Grand International wherein the coronation night was held in Bangkok, Thailand. Other Miss Grand placers are:
- First runner-up: Samantha Bernardo of Philippines
- Second runner-up: Ivana Batchelor of Guatemala
- Third runner-up: Aurra Karishma of Indonesia
- Fourth runner-up: Lala Guedes of Brazil
In an Instagram post after winning the pageant, the crowned beauty did not forget to honor all the people behind her when she represented her country. She stressed in her post making a history being the first black woman to earn the prestigious title, “The first BLACK MGI Queen, the first to bring the golden crown home to the USA, and finally, a dream as a young three-year-old is now a reality.”
And in her lineup of people she’s grateful for, among which is Janicel Lubina, a former beauty who landed a spot in the top 10 of Miss International 2015. Lubina is one of her model coaches who trained her in the U.S. and she is trained and managed by Pinoy camp Kagandang Flores (KF), among the famous beauty pageant boot camps in the Philippines.
Thed KF has handled beauty queens like Precious Lara Quigaman (Miss International 2005), Bea Rose Santiago (Miss International 2013), Miss Earth titleholders Jamie Herrell (2014), Angelia Ong (2015), and Karen Ibasco (2017), and Miss Universe finalists Mary Jean Lastimosa (2014), Rachel Peters (2017), and Gazini Ganados (2019).
Meanwhile, there’s a viral of Samantha and Abena Appiah where their finesse seemingly went down the drain when it’s only the two of them left. It can be seen Samantha slapping her in the arms out of joy and pulling her close for a hug. The clip showed hows close they are and Samantha, in a post, explained, “Seriously, we all have the most genuine reaction. 👑 People who know me well, that if I am full of joy and happiness, I do this. Haha sorry sister.”
They are both under KF.
