Sen. Tito Sotto was asked about the 2022 elections
Senate President Tito Sotto admitted that he and Senator Ping Locsin are being encouraged to be a tandem in the 2022 elections.
As the next election is nearing, talks about politics and possible presidential candidates have become louder. Several prominent names on the world of politics already surfaced.
In line with this, in a recent interview on News5, Sen. Sotto was asked if Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), where he belongs, already has a candidate to endorse for the position of president.
The Senate President said that their party is in alliance with the PDP-Laban. He said that there had been informal talks about endorsement but they haven’t come up with a final decision.
Based on the art card of News5, Tito Sotto admitted that there were those who want him to run for a higher position next election with his supposed running mate, his fellow lawmaker Ping Lacson.
“Syempre, kaming magkakapartido, meron kaming mga informal talks na mga napupusuan namin na sana si ganito ay tumakbo..pero noong umpisa naming kausapin ayaw naman eh. So we have abandoned that idea,” the actor-turned-politician said.
The Senate President was also asked to react to the statement of Bayan Coalition that they will not endorse the politician who is associated with President Rodrigo Duterte.
Tito Sotto said that it was the thinking of those who are supporting those groups and so he said, “goodluck”.
For the veteran politician, political issues will just displease the public, especially amid the pandemic. He said that those who are thinking about politics are just politicans.
“Baka makainisan ka pa pagka ipinilit mo ang pultiika sa panahon ngayon,” the Senator said.
