Lady Passenger to Face Charges After Taking Off Face Mask and Face Shield

Train management plans to file charges against lady passenger after taking off her face mask and face shield to take a selfie.

On Facebook, video footage from a concerned netizen named Jonalyn Caadan shows a lady passenger inside the train allegedly violated the minimum health protocol. Caadan who is in front of the lady recorded the alleged violations.

In the video, the lady passenger took off her face mask and face shield just to take a selfie. After few minutes, Caadan accosted the lady passenger to put her face mask and face shield back.

However, the lady ignores Caadan’s accost and just continues her selfie. After taking a selfie, she then wears her face mask and face shield back.

The video has gone viral on social media and earned various reactions from netizens. The woman earned criticisms for allegedly being inconsiderate and irresponsible amid the health crisis in the country.

Meanwhile, after the video went viral, the Manila Metro Rail Transit (MRT) management condemn the viral woman. The management released a statement calling the lady’s action is reckless and insensitive.

“Thus, we deem the passenger’s action not only reckless and insensitive, but also pose possible threat to the health of her fellow passengers. We condemn such wanton disregard on these health and safety measures,” MRT said.

The MRT is now asking public’s assistance to give the lady’s information for investigation and filing of appropriate charges due to violations of the public health and safety protocols.

Aside from the passenger, they will also probe the transport marshal on duty for allegedly negligence to his duty, which is to order commuters who will deliberately disregard health rules to get off the transport vehicle, stations, and termminals.

Also, the legal team of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) is studying the fine and charges for her violations. They also appeal to the lady to voluntarily surrender herself to the authorities.
