PNP Maritime Arrested 10 Suspects and Seized P3.3M Worth of Smuggled Gas in Tawi-Tawi

Philippine National Police (PNP) maritime operatives seized P3.3 million worth of smuggled gas at a small port in Languyan, Tawi-Tawi.

Operatives of the Maritime Group of the PNP seized P3.3 million in smuggled gasoline at a small port in Languyan, Tawi-Tawi. According Brig. Gen. John Mitchell Jamili, director of the Maritime Group the vessel of suspects sped off after seeing the police’s boat.

The team chased the motorboat and stopped them thereafter conducted proper boarding procedures, Jamili added. During the inspection, the operatives confirmed that the vessel has gasoline on drums on board.

Aside from the gasoline in drums, various goods were also discovered. Jamili said that the items found in the vessel have no pertinent documents, based on the report of Manila Bulletin.

Smugglers were identified as Saldi Sali, 29; Kads Abdulmajid, 37; Question Sali, 28; Asri Tuwad, 32; Pepe Yusof, 25; Totoh Abdulfagur, 38; Raki Idris, 30; Moktaden Daud, 37; Toy Iya, 39; and, Puwa Idris, 43.

Police confiscated 400 drums of fuel worth P3.3 million. Also, a motor launch boat worth P2.5 million were also seized.
