This led to a massive surge of residents changing their name to salmon. However, deputy interior minister Chen Tsung-yen condemned this act. Acording to an article from GMA, the minister said:

This kind of name-change not only wastes time but causes unnecessary paperwork…
Cherish administrative resources..

He added that people should be logical about the entire thing and not go through all the paperwork just to get free sushi. Meanwhile, the people who availed of the promo through a name change weren’t really that affected.

As per the article, one customer said they changed their first name to Salmon while other changed their surname. Additionally, others even got “salmon-themed” names such as “Salmon King”, “Salmon Prince”, and “Salmon Fried Rice”.
