Smalls, whose son was shot in the head and seriously wounded by police in Texas said on March 16, 2021, that she plans to file suit against law enforcement. “My baby didn’t deserve it,” Smalls said at a press conference. “My baby didn’t deserve to be shot. Especially not by the police.” The 19-year-old Smalls said bullet fragments remained lodged in the brain of her son, and he had part of his skull removed following the March 3 shooting in Houston. The mother, identified as Daisha Smalls said that her baby did not deserve to be killed, especially by a cop, according to ABS-CBN News.

“My baby didn’t deserve it,”

“My baby didn’t deserve to be shot. Especially not by the police.”

Smalls, a 19-year-old African-American, said that bullet fragments remained lodged in the brain of a year-old Legend Smalls. Part of his skull was removed after the shooting incident occurred on March 3.

The mother was with her kid at a gas station, when an armed man being pursued by the police tried to pull her out of her vehicle.

The armed man was killed by the police but at the cost of wounding the baby.

Smalls’ attorney Ben Crump said that the cops proceeded to shoot anyway, knowing that there were civilians there. Crump also pointed out the incident showed the cops’ way of dealing with African-Americans compared to how they deal with white people.

“They knew she was in the car,”

“They still shoot anyway, knowing that she’s in the car.”

“Right now in America we’re talking a lot about — when it comes to African Americans — the police shoot first and ask questions later,”

“And they don’t do that to other citizens.”

Antonio Romanucci, another lawyer for Smalls, said that they intend to file a lawsuit, based on the report.

“We are developing more facts, and once those facts are fully developed, you can anticipate a lawsuit being filed,”

“You do not shoot unless you know what your target is,”

“This is not the movies. This isn’t a TV show.”
