150 Individuals Caught Violating Curfew Policy in Makati City

Around 150 individuals who were informal workers have been caught for violating the curfew policy in Makati City.

On Monday (March 15, 2021), the police authorities and barangay officials caught 150 individuals violating the unified curfew in Metro Manila. The offenders have been brought to a detention center.

Some of the curfew violator were informal workers and explained that they were just working to earn money to support the financial necessities of the families although the curfew has been set earlier than usual.

The 18-year-old teenager named Menandro has been nabbed together with his backrider along Barangay Tejeros while picking up passengers using his tricycle. He said that he needs to earn money.

“Kailangan po talaga ng pera. ‘Yong ginagawa naming bahay kasi paaalisin na kami sa bakanteng lote. ‘Di po ako pwede sa araw kasi delikado, maraming nanghuhuli,” Menandro said.

Over 40 individuals including minors have been brought to the Olympia police substation in Makati for their violation. One of the offenders has been caught while bring food at a store in Tejeros.

The violators have been detained at the precinct until the end of the curfew at 5:00 am. They are also required to pay a fine of P1, 000 for first violation.

“Medyo marami lang nag-relax. Nasa kalsada sila kahit alam nilang may curfew,” Makati City chief of police Col. Harold Depositar said.
