Police Searching for Illegal Drug Plants Fell from 30 Meters Cliff in Kalinga

A Kalinga police suffer injuries after he fell from 30 meters’ cliff while conducting a search operation against illegal plants which are considered drugs.

A policeman broke a bone in his hand after accidentally falling into a 30 -meter -deep ravine in Butbut proper in Tinglayan, this province while they were conducting a search operation for an illegal drug plant plantation in the area.

According to the report of Remate, the police was identified as P/MSgt. Michael Mamantao of the Kalinga PNP slipped while performing his duty. Before the accident, police and PDEA personnel pulled out and burned 1,000 fully grown marijuana trees in the said area.

According to Col. Davy Vicente Limmong, director of the Kalinga PNP, while walking and looking for other maryjane plants, P/Msgt. Mamantao along with other police officers fell into the ravine.

In this regard, Limmong said that they confiscated more than P2 million worth of marijuana, while P10 million worth of illegal drug plants were destroyed from January to this March.

Six of those arrested were foreigners or non -residents of Kalinga. At the same time, Limmong said he has extended immediate assistance to PMSGT Mamanteo who is confined at the Kalinga Provincial hospital in Bulanao, Tabuk.
