COVID-19 Prevention: PDA Of Couples Now Prohibited Due To Spike In Cases

As one of the ways for COVID-19 prevention, the PDA of couples is now not allowed.

COVID-19 PREVENTION – Due to the spike of COVID-19 cases in the country, the authorities banned public displays of affection of couples.

With nearly a year since the country has been placed in lockdown and quarantine, the number of cases remained increasing. On March 9, the number of cases in the Philippines breached 600,000 and according to Octa Research, the cases in Metro Manila which is said to the epicenter of the virus, are climbing faster than expected.

The cases are “beating their projections”. In a previous article, epartment of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III named areas such as Pasay City and Malabon City under “critical risk” areas and Makati, Navotas, and San Juan under “high risk level”.

Below are the areas at “moderate risk”:

  • Lapu-Lapu City
  • Ormoc City
  • Nueva Vizcaya
  • Santiago City
  • Ifugao
  • Mandaue City
  • Mandaluyong City
  • Cebu

With the increasing number of cases in the country, it is now banned by the authorities for couples to show public displays of affection. Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesman Brig. Gen. Ildebrandi Usana said that the police officers are instructed to call them out if they are spotted violating this rule.

Holding hands, kissing, and embracing have been prohibited under the new rule, and aside from couples, also covered are family members and friends in public places.

Through time, the virus mutated and several variants have been introduced to the public and were warned about. In the country, the South African variant and the U.K. variant of COVID-19 have been recorded. As of March 6, the country logged a total of 58 cases of the South African variant.
