Bukidnon Chief Of Cop Behind Alleged Gun-Planting Video Should Explain, PNP Spox

BUKIDNON – PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Usana said that the superior of the Bukidnon cop behind the gun-planting video must explain the said act.

Brigadier General Ildebrandi Usana said that the cop on the video could no longer give his side of the story since he died in an an accident five days after the operation.

“He (policeman on video) could have been made to explain his side. The chief of police will just have to explain on what grounds did the policeman operate that caused the death of the alleged drug suspect,”

The cop, now identified as Police Corporal Benzon Gonzales, was caught on camera for firing a gun thrice before planting it beside the body of their target, identified as Pol Estañol, in a buy-bust operation conducted in Valencia City in the province.

Estañol was slain after he allegedly fought with the arresting officers in the operation.

Police Regional Office 10 spokesperson Police Captain Francisco Sabud said that they have yet to determine the authenticity of the said video, adding that the cop fired the gun out of frustration.

Usana said that if proven that the evidence was planted, the PNP will not condone the act, as he maintained that the organization values human rights and observes the rule of law, based on the report.

“The PNP will never condone such act from that policeman,”

“We value human rights, we follow the rule of law, and we cannot allow any law enforcer to break the law he is expected to enforce.”
