Pres. Duterte Present at Arrival of COVID-19 Vaccines from World Health’s COVAX

DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte thanked World Health Organization, COVAX Facility, and other international donors.

The COVID-19 pandemic is still the biggest challenge faced by several nations across the globe. More than 200 countries and territories in the world have logged cases of the said disease.

Previous reports recount to China being the first to record a case of COVID-19 in the later part of 2019. Starting 2020, several other countries outside China logged cases of the disease.

Even the World Health Organization (WHO) was alarmed by how fast COVID-19 has spread. WHO warned countries not to put their guards down early to prevent a second wave of the disease.

Many countries including the Philippines waited for the development of a COVID-19 vaccine. Currently, vaccines of different brands are available and several nations have already started with the vaccination process.

Recently, in the Philippines, the AstraZeneca vaccines from World Health Organization and the COVAX Facility have arrived. Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte personally waited for the arrival of the said COVID-19 vaccine.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Pres. Duterte thanked World Health, COVAX Facility, and other international donors over the arrival of COVID-19 vaccines in PH. Previously, China has donated doses of its COVID-19 vaccine, the Sinovac, to the country.

The vaccination process has already started and the top priority are the health workers who are catering to the patients in hospitals. Amid the hesitations of many people, the government encourages the public to trust the development of the vaccines.
