Teenage Girl Drowned During Family Picnic in Cotabato River
A teenage girl passed away after drowning during a family picnic at Marbol River in the town of Magpet, Cotabato.
A 12-year-old girl identified as Bernice Meryl Sarino died after drowning in Cotabato River. The supposed happy and memorable family bonding turned into a tragedy. The girl went missing around lunch time.
Magpet Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office Warning and Operations chief Gideon Bose said that the lady victim’s parents notice that their daughter is missing when they tried to find her to eat lunch.
Sarino family immediately reported the incident to the barangay officials and authorities. The officers immediately conducted a search and rescue operation to find the victim who is a resident of Barangay Macebolig, Kidapawan City.
“They reported the incident to barangay officials and to our office and a search operation was immediately conducted,” Bose said.
The rescuers found the victim’s body stuck between rocks in the river after an hour of thorough search, according to Bose.

The Sarino family also lost their son due to a venomous cobra bite last year.
