PH TO DEPLOY DOMESTIC WORKERS – Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III announced the Philippines will resume deploying domestic workers to the United Arab Emirates on March 31.

This news comes after 7 years of negotiating with the UAE. With this, around 100,000 household service workers are anticipating deployment. According to an article from ABS-CBN, Bello said:

Finally they agreed that the contract will be signed not only by the employer and household worker but also the foreign recruitment agency as well as the Philippine recruitment agency

Furthermore, Bello noted that Filipinos set to work in the UAE must have their cellphones and passports with them at all times. Additionally, getting paid vacations is a must, he said.

Along with this, the Labor Secretary also proposed to UAE officials that the domestic workers be inoculated prior to leaving the country.

Although, Bello said they didn’t make it a condition. However, he emphasized that for protection purposes, it would be better if the domestic workers would be vaccinated first before leaving.
