President Duterte Sacks PH Ambassador to Brazil for Maltreatment to Helper

President Rodrigo Duterte, on Monday night, sacks Marichu Mauro, the Philippine (PH) Ambassador to Brazil who allegedly abused a helper.

Mauro had previously faced a complaint after the video showed him hurting his helper. President Duterte further stressed that he is canceling Mauro’s eligibility and will not receive retirement benefits.

“I signed the document affirming the decision,” he said.

He can no longer be placed in any public office. Mauro was appointed in 2016 as a Philippine envoy to Brazil and was in the field of foreign service in February 1995.

In October 2020, the Brazilian media outlet revealed CCTV footage showing that Mauro seemed to be tweaking, squeezing, and throwing things at his helper. After goes viral, Duterte approved the conduct of an investigation.

Meanwhile, Rodrigo Roa Duterte gave a message to the Filipinos following the arrival of COVID-19 vaccine in the Philippines. Based on a previous article, China donated 600,000 shots of their developed vaccine – Sinovac Biotech.

Pres. Duterte encourages the Filipinos to be the partner of the government in curbing the spread of COVID-19. He also expressed his gratitude to the health frontliners for their efforts in the fight against the disease.
