South Korean National Arrested by BI in Pampanga for Swindling

The Bureau of Immigration arrested a South Korean national who is wanted in his country for swindling and other charges.

BI Fugitive Search Unit Chief Bobby Raquepo reported that the South Korean national identified as Lee Beomseok has been arrested in Pampanga for swindling and deceiving his two colleagues with large amount of cash.

South Korean authorities informed the Bureau of Immigration regarding the 42-year-old suspect who committed criminal acts in his country. He was arrested at a restaurant in Angeles City, Pampanga.

Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente released the mission order to arrest Lee who was subject for a criminal investigation. Lee is also considered as an “undocumented alien” after his passport has been revoked.

In 2013, Lee allegedly received $22,000 from his first victim after persuading him to lend money for restaurant business. He also stole $248,000 from another victim in 2014, according to BI records.

The Korean suspect is currently under the custody of BI detention facility in Taguig City while waiting an order for his deportation. He will be also banned from reentering the Philippines.

“He will be placed in the immigration blacklist and banned from re-entering the Philippines,” Morente said.
