Isko Game For Family Day Proposal In Manila Tourist Spots

ISKO GAME FOR FAMILY DAY – On Friday, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno expressed his support for the “Family Day” proposal in Manila.

Family day is a one-day even in the city’s tourist attractions. With family day, children below 15-years-old would be allowed to visit public spaces.

During an interview with Teleradyo, Moreno said:

Aprub! Of course, we want to support tourism, lalo na ngayon, domestic tourism, tayo-tayo lang ang nagpapasyalan. Wala tayong mga banyagang pumupunta rito

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the tourism industry was heavily hit. But, a year into the outbreak in the Philippines, the number of daily cases had seen a significant decrease. As such, officials float the idea of easing restrictions to a nationwide modified general community quarantine.

Currently, children below 15 years old and individuals above 65 are prohibited from roaming outside public areas with the exception of securing essential goods and services.

Due to the decline of COVID-19 cases, Manila has been placed under a general community quarantine (GCQ) since August of 2020. In lieu of this, Moreno said that “family day” would be a way to help re-stimulate the local economy.

Additionally, the Manila Mayor stressed that the city has been perservering against the virus for 11. “Nakapagtiyaga na tayo ng 11 months. I think a few days will not harm“, said Isko.

As of writing, Manila has documented 27,817 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the coronavirus outbreak in the Philippines. Of this number, health authorities reported 26,582 recoveries, 802 deaths, and 433 active cases.
