NBI-IOD Chief Ronald Aguto said the foreign nationals are working in a call center. They were told, they were not allowed to go out in the guise that they are under quarantine and there is a pandemic.

“These guys are basically, nagtatrabaho sa isang call center. Hindi sila pinapalabas in the guise na under quarantine at may pandemic daw. Na-realize lang nila later on ngayong taon nang ang mga kasamahan nilang Indonesians nasa labas naman ng opisina,” Aguto said.

The NBI discovered that some foreigners working in the newly formed company who recruited them from their countries were experiencing difficulties. Based on their story, if they do not want to work there, they will be sold to other companies also owned by foreigners.

He added that they contain human liberty, so this is a violation of the law in the Philippines. Foreign employers are facing charges of serious illegal detention and human trafficking, which is also being sought by the authorities.
