QC Finds 350 Close Contacts Of UK Virus Positive OFW

QC FINDS 350 CLOSE CONTACTS – Health authorities from Quezon City announced that they successfully found the 350 close contacts of the OFW who tested positive for the new UK virus strain.

According to QC mayor Joy Belmonte, only two of the 350 individuals tested positive for COVID-19. Based on an article from Inquirer, the QC mayors said:

We were able to contact trace 350 individuals. Can you imagine that? Resources being spent on one person just because protocols were not followed

Furthermore, Belmonte said that of the two people, the Philippine Genome Center is still finding out whether or not they were infected with the new strain. As per the article, the patient with the new strain was from Liloan Cebu.

He is among the 62 patients positive for the more transmissible B117 coronavirus strain. Currently, the patient is placed under quarantine at Riverside, Barangay Commonwealth.

Meanwhile, Belmonte declared that they would be filing a case against the patient’s manning agency after they transported the patient to QC without giving prior notice to authorities.

I also want to find out why he was released from the hotel knowing he was positive and not brought directly to a quarantine facility. Why he was released to a grab driver hired by the manning agency rather than released to a medical vehicle and brought directly to a quarantine facility
