PAGASA – Signal No. 1 Up In Areas Due To Tropical Storm Auring
PAGASA – Weather bureau PAGASA said that it raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 in several areas in the Philippines.
The bureau said in its bulletin that the following areas are currently under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1:
- Davao Oriental
- Eastern portion of Davao de Oro
- Pantukan
- Maragusan
- New Bataan
- Compostela
- Monkayo
- Southeastern portion of Agusan del Sur
- San Francisco
- Rosario
- Bunawan
- Trento
- Santa Josefa
- Southern portion of Surigao del Sur
- Bayabas
- Cagwait
- Marihatag
- San Agustin
- Lianga
- Barobo
- Tagbina
- Hinatuan
- Bislig City
- Lingig
Areas under TCWS No. 1 may face winds of up to 30-60 kilometers per hour or intermittent rains within the next 36 hours, according to the Manila Bulletin.
As previously reported, the center of Tropical Depression Auring was last spotted at 715 kilometers East Southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.
It is packed with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 70 kilometers per hour. It is moving slowly westward.
Auring is still expected to make landfall over the eastern coast of the Caraga Region on Sunday and may further intensify into a severe tropical storm in the next 48 hours.
“However, the storm will likely weaken while crossing the archipelago due to significant terrain interaction and dry air intrusion from the Northeast Monsoon,”
Based on the report, the storm will likely follow a generally northwestward path as it traverses Caraga Region, Visayas, and Mimaropa on Sunday and Monday.
By Saturday to Sunday morning, Caraga Region, Davao Oriental, and Davao de Oro will face moderate to heavy with at times intense rains, while Eastern Visayas, Misamis Oriental, Camiguin, Bukidnon, and Davao del Norte will face moderate to heavy rains.
