TAAL, BATANGAS UPDATE – Due to the recent volcanic activity and unrest of Taal Volcano, authorities are gearing up for its potential eruption.

Earlier, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) warned of a possible threat of eruption of Taal Volcano. As such, they warned residents living in the surrounding area to evacuate, especially those near the Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ).

Following this, several mandatory evacuations were conducted yesterday. Currently, authorities are preparing for more evacuations as the threat of eruption continues.

According to an article from ABS-CBN, the residents would be brought to nearby provinces such as Cavite and Laguna to comply with health protocols. This was due to facilities near the area not being able to accommodate a large number of evacuees.

As of today, around 2,000 residents living near Taal Volcano have been evacuated. Meanwhile, only residents living near Taal Volcano had to leave their homes.

Police and the Philippine Coast Guard had now set-up a perimeter around the island to prevent anyone from getting back in inside. However, those who have fish ponds near the island are allowed to feed their fish, but, they can’t step foot on the island. Afterward, they need to go back to the mainland once they finished feeding their fish.
