PH Allows More Foreigners To Enter Country Starting Feb 16

PH ALLOWS MORE FOREIGNERS – Malacañang announced that the Philippines would be allowing more foreigners to enter the country starting February 16.

According to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, the country’s COVID-19 task force decided to ease travel restrictions on foreigners issued on March 20, 2020. Furthermore, he said that tourists are not allowed unless there was an exemption.

Roque explained that the government would decided the exemption on a case-to-case bases. However, he noted that there should be an endorsement from individual offices. “For example, the DOE (Department of Energy) for energy-related concerns“, he added.

Meanwhile, inbound foreigners still require a pre-booked accommodation for a minimum of 6 nights in a registered quarantine hotel or facility. Moreover, they need to be subjected to a COVID-19 test at the quarantine facility on the 6th day from arrival.

Previously, the government announced that that allowed entry in the Philippines are the following:

  • Foreign parents of a minor Filipino
  • Foreign parent of Filipino children with special needs
  • Accredited foreign government and international organization officials
  • Foreign airline crew
  • Those with long-term and investor visas
  • Foreigners that have medical and emergency cases, including their medical escorts.
