“Between February to June, the dry season we see is relatively short because rainfall distribution may extend until February and March. Generally, March and April will only be our dry season, if we look at PAGASA’s rainfall forecast,”

March, April, and May are considered the dry and hot months in the Philippines, the bureau added, according to a report from Manila Bulletin.

The mature stage of La Niña, known as the cold phase of the El Niño-Southern Oscillation cycle, has been reached in November-December 2020.

The cold phase conditions have been gradually returning to ENSO-neutral condition but its lingering effects may stil be present during the February-March-April season, the bureau added.

Based on the report, the bureau said that the month of February will have  “generally near to above normal rainfall conditions in most parts of the country except for the western and central parts of Luzon where below normal rainfall conditions are likely.”

27 provinces will more likely to face above normal rainfall this month. There will be rainy condition in some parts of the country in March due to the said phenomenon.

By March, mostly above normal rainfall conditions are to be expected in the country with some areas in Luzon are likely to face below to near normal rainfall conditions. 69 provinces may face above normal rainfall next month.
